An effective system of corporate governance helps to facilitate decision-making, accountability, and responsibility within and outside our co-operative societies. Economic growth and development will be achieved depending on prudent decisions about allocation, utilization and investment of resources. Good governance is founded on attitudes, ethics, practices and values of the Society.

Omwenga has over 27 years of experience in the Kenyan cooperative sector. He currently heads the Ethics Commission for Co-operative Societies (ECCOS) Division within the State Department of Cooperatives. He has been involved in regulatory and supervisory activities, and preparation of prudential standards for enhancing performance management in cooperative societies. He is a Business and Strategic Management major and a member of the Kenya Society of Professional Co-operators (KSPC).
