Central Planning And Project Monitoring Unit (CPPMU)

  • The Central Planning and Project Monitoring Unit (CPPMU) derives its mandate from the National Treasury and Planning. It provides planning services to the State Department that informs policy and strategy direction of the State Department. It is headed by the Chief Economist who reports to the Principal Secretary. The functions of the CPPMU are:
  • Sectoral economic analysis and planning;
  • Formulation and analysis of government policies relating to the cooperative sub-sector;
  • Undertaking economic analysis and trends to inform policy and planning process;
  • Provide Economic Policy advice to Principal Secretary;
  • Coordinating preparation of strategic plans and the Vision 2030 Medium Term Plans;
  • Support to the Ministerial Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget preparation and budget projections;
  • Coordination of preparation of work plans, performance contracting and reporting;
  • Formulation and design of new development projects/programmes proposals and appraisals; and
  • Monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes;
