State Cooperatives Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Kilemi visited Chicken Basket Limited in Kisumu. The PS appreciated the good job the youth-led organization is doing in the poultry value chain in western Kenya through its end-to-end business model.
“The wonderful job they are doing with the youth and women from vulnerable communities and the innovative products they have developed to reach the bottom of the pyramid customers is a testament to the quality of youth we have as a nation.” PS Kilemi noted.
Mr. Kilemi said he was impressed with the chomaprenuership concept, which, apart from creating direct jobs for the youth, has turned out to be a source of market for chicken the company aggregates from the farmers.
PS reiterated State Department for Co-operatives will work with such enterprises and the County Governments aggregate poultry farmers into Co-operatives and strengthen them so as to develop this valuable sector of our economy from production to the plate.
