Mr. Patrick Kilemi was appointed as the Principal Secretary, State Department for Cooperatives in the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development on 2nd December, 2022.

He is a holder of MA in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from the University of Nairobi (UoN). He is also a Certified Public Account (CPA (K)).

Prior to his appointment, he worked in the petroleum industry in Kenya and the East and Central African region at Total Energies Marketing Kenya PLC (2009-2022), where he held various management positions as the Export Manager and General Territory Manager. He was responsible for the Company’s increasing development and expansion efforts into high-growth, emerging markets as well as its advanced systemic and orderly business operations strategies.

Before joining Total Energies Marketing Kenya PLC, Patrick served as an Integrated Business Solutions Consultant, East Africa at Chevron Kenya Limited (2005-2009). He was also a Retail Lubricants Promoter at Mobil Oil Kenya Limited (2002- 2005), where he was instrumental in growing revenues and increasing market share for the oil companies.

He has had extensive professional trainings and commands numerous expose’ to local and international conferences and workshops in areas of cooperatives development and policy, administration, leadership, management, anti-corruption and fraud, and combating economic crime, agricultural value chain financing, computing and other areas of business and management among high level global conferences.

With regard to community service, Patrick has spearheaded the establishment of development programmes and schools in the rural community and served in several secondary school boards of management. In addition, he has mentored many young leaders and students on financial management and social enterprise initiatives. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and serves in various professional bodies.
