Today, the Principal Secretary State Department for Cooperatives, Mr Patrick Kilemi, attended a Cooperative Public Policy Making Process (PPMP) Learning Forum at Strathmore University The event theme is ” Policy to Action.” Global communities have been implementing the Cooperatives Leadership Engagement Advocacy and Research (CLEAR) program (2018-2023) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which in turn has provided technical assistance to the National Cooperative Policy Implementation Task Force to develop and popularize the National Cooperative Bill. PS Kilemi noted that the National Government’s policy review reached a significant milestone one of the tangible outcomes being the draft of Cooperative Bill-a testament to the commitment to provide an enabling environment for cooperatives to thrive in Kenya. He then led Tree planting ceremony to commemorate the event. In attendance, Ms. Olga Oyier, Kenya team lead, and policy & legislative Affairs specialist at Global Communities USAID CLEAR program, Prof Izael Da Silva Deputy Vice-chancellor for Research and Innovation Strathmore University, Daniel Marube CEO Cooperatives Alliance of Kenya, Director Kizito Council of governors and other high-level delegates who graced the occasion.
